María Antón Cabot (Benidorm, Spain) is a director, editor, and screenwriter. In 2009, she found the audiovisual practices and research collective lacasinegra, along with Gabriel Azorín, Carlos Pardo, Jorge Medal, and Elena López Riera.
She has worked as an editor and screenwriter in several films (Pas à Genève, Una vez fuimos salvajes). She made her directorial debut in DOK Leipzig and was awarded at the Seville European Film Festival. Her last project Sóc vertical però m’agradaria ser horitzontal (2022), has premiered in the Seville European Film Festival, Márgenes, D’A Film Festival and Cinema Jove.
She mentors projects for the ECAM (School of Cinematography and Audiovisual of the Community of Madrid) and is a member of the evaluation committee at the Spanish Film Academy’s Residency programme. She has been a juror in the official competition of the Granada Film Fest 2020, in Zona Zine at the Malaga Film Fest 2023 and in Filmadrid 2023.
