Born in Alicante, Spain, she moved to Madrid to study Image and Sound at the Complutense University, complementing her education at the TAI Film School. She began her career in film production and in 1993 joined Canal+’s in-house production team as a production manager, where she excelled in the production of documentaries and special programs, including award-winning titles such as “Lisboa, Faca no Coração,” “Poeta en Nueva York,” and “La rosa de piedra.” She was also the production manager for the Galas of the San Sebastián International Film Festival and produced the documentary series “Código Plus.”
In 2000, she joined Produce+ within the Sogecable Group, where she worked on productions and co-productions with major Spanish production companies. Since 2003, she has directed and produced documentaries such as “Universo Hip Hop” and “Mil y Una Lolas.” In 2007, she founded her own production company, TRANSIT Producciones S.L., where she worked on fiction and documentary projects, including the documentary “Murales,” which was selected at Seminci and premiered in New York, and “Las Maestras de la República,” winner of the 2014 Goya Award for Best Documentary Film. She also produced “La defensa por la libertad,” about the fight of the legal profession during Spain’s transition to democracy. She recently directed the documentary series “Sorolla” for TVE. She is an associate professor of the Documentary and Transmedia Degree and Master’s program at Carlos III University. She is the president of ACCIÓN, the association of film directors in Spain, a member of the Spanish Film Academy, and a founding member of the Valencian Academy of Audiovisual Arts.
