Paula is a committed filmmaker who often seeks to reflect social realities in her work. She has written, directed, and produced for networks such as ARTE, Aljazeera, Public Sénat, France 3, and RTVE.
Paula received the IDA / NETFLIX Award for Best Emerging Global Director. This award is given annually from Los Angeles by the International Documentary Association to an emerging director from around the world to support their latest film. In her case, it was for her second feature film, MY BROTHER ALI. After premiering in the Official Section Tiempo de Historia at SEMINCI and screening at various festivals, MY BROTHER ALI received, among other awards, the Best National Film award at the Rizoma Festival and was nominated for the 2024 Forqué Awards and 2025 Goya Awards.
Her first feature film, CARTAS MOJADAS, premiered in 2020 in the Official Section of the Málaga Film Festival, where it received the Silver Biznaga, the Audience Award for Best Documentary. The film was nominated for the Goya, Forqué, and Platino Awards, as well as receiving several other national and international industry recognitions and awards.
In 2022, Paula directed and produced the original series for Aljazeera, THE WORLD CUP DREAM.
Currently, Paula is working as a screenwriter and director on her first fiction feature, LA PRIMA MAYOR, produced by A Contracorriente Films, and is also developing as screenwriter and director the fiction feature AMOR DE DIOS, based on an original idea by Carlos Saura. With AMOR DE DIOS, Paula participated in the latest edition of the Academy of Cinema Residencies program.
