Avelina Prat was born in Valencia in 1972. She worked as an architect years before becoming a filmmaker. Since 2004, she has worked in screenplay in more than thirty films with directors such as Fernando Trueba, Manuel Martín Cuenca, Javier Rebollo, David Trueba o Lucile Hadzihalilovic. She has also been a programmer in the Cinema Jove festival of Valencia.

Screenwriter and director of the documentaries On set with Lilly reich, Los niños de la Ropavejera and the short films 208 palabras, Puerta 6, La fábrica de la luz, El abrigo rojo and 3/105. This last short film was co-directed by Diego Opazo and was selected for the Valencia Festival in 2014.

She has just finished her first film Vasil, produced by Distinto Films and Activist 38 that will premiere in the cinemas this fall. The screenplay won the first award in the Fest Pitching Forum in the New Films New Directors Film Festival in Portugal. She took part in the fifth lab of screenwriting in the SGAE foundation directed by Isabel Coixet and in the Berlinale Talents Script Station 2018. She’s currently working on her second script for her next film.
